The roots of Sunshield date back to 1971 when we first started in an old brewery just outside central London. Our most significant leap forward was the creation of movable louvers—adjustable blinds that allow for specific sunlight and heat management. In those days, they were only applied to skylights and as internal installations but now they're mainly utilized externally and often on façades. This change is due to the growing demand from new build homes (where more and more large glass facades are used) which need more external options when it comes to controlling temperature. Other reasons behind this shift include the fact that by installing them externally instead of internally, there's greater potential influencing power over overall energy consumption at home. Unlike many other ways of blocking out light, with this method you're still allowing some light through while still reducing heat gain; making it a smarter way than other methods of reducing your energy bills.
